Acht (!) Jahre nach ihrem letzten Studioalbum veröffentlichen Metallica ihr brandneues Album "Hardwired...To Self-Destruct". Es ist das 11. Studioalbum der Band und wurde in Zusammenarbeit mit Greg Fidelman produziert, der bereits beim Album "Death Magnetic" (2008) dabei war. Der amerikanische Produzent arbeitete neben Metallica unter anderem bereits mit Künstlern wie Slayer, Black Sabbath, Red Hot Chili Peppers und Marilyn Manson zusammen. Als Vorgeschmack auf das kommende Album gibt es bereits die Tracks "Hardwired" und "Moth Into Flame" zu hören.

1981 in Los Angeles von James Hetfield und Drummer Lars Ulrich gegründet, gehörten Metallica von Beginn ihrer Zeit an zu den Größen des Metal und zählen zu den einflussreichsten Rock-Bands der letzten Jahrzehnte. Darüber hinaus sitzen sie gemeinsam mit Slayer, Anthrax und Megadeth im Metal-Olymp der "Big Four". Das stellen die vier auch jetzt wieder unter Beweis mit zwölf energiegeladenen Tracks in gewohnter Metallica-Manier.

Das Album erscheint als 2-CD Standard mit 12 Tracks, 3-CD Deluxe mit 26 Tracks (je im Digipack).
