This book is for The 7th International Conference on Ubiquitous Information Technologies and Applications (CUTE 2012). Ubiquitous computing will require a new approach to fitting technology to our lives. The advent of new computing devices, and the seamless connectivity between these devices, thanks to diverse wired and wireless networks, are enabling new opportunities for a user to perform his/her operation all the time and everywhere. These seamlessly connected devices are ranging from mobile handset to wearable computers. Also, it is expected that these devices will become so pervasive that they will be embedded in the surrounding physical environment, and transparent and invisible to a user. Such devices, whether carried on by people or embedded into other systems, will constitute a global internetworking infrastructure and likely to provide a new level of openness and dynamics. Ubiquitous computing has as its goal the enhancing computer use by pushing computational services out of conventional desktop interfaces into physical environments, but effectively making them transparent forms and calm mode of interactivity. Recent advances in electronic and computer technologies have paved the way for the proliferation of ubiquitous computing and innovative applications that incorporate these technologies.
This book covers the following topics:
Ubiquitous Communication and Networks Ubiquitous System and Application Security on Ubiquitous Computing Systems Smart Devices and Applications Cloud and Grid Systems Service-oriented and Web Service Computing Embedded Hardware Image Processing and Multimedia Ubiquitous Software Technology

Professor Youn-Hee Han received his B.S. degree in Mathematics from Korea University, Seoul, Korea in 1996, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the same university in 1998 and 2002, respectively. From March 4, 2002 to February 28, 2006, he was a senior researcher in the Next Generation Network Group of Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology. He possesses 1 year experience as a project manager of 'IEEE802&IPv6 Handover Optimization' Research at Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology. Since March 2, 2006, he has been a professor in School of Computer Science and Engineering at Korea University of Technology and Education (KoreaTech), CheonAn, Korea. His primary research interests relate to the intelligent networking, including self-configuration and cross-layering mobility on mobile devices and sensor nodes. He has done research in mobility management for IP-based mobile Internet since he was enrolled in his doctoral course. Since 2002, his activities have focused on IPv6, mobile IPv6, media independent handover, and cross-layer optimization for efficient mobility support. Currently, his primary research topic is intelligent self-configuration of mobile sensor networks. He has published approximately 80 research papers on the theory and application of mobile computing. He has also the filed application of 20 patents on next-generation internet area. He is the chair of 'multi6' working group in TTA IPv6 Project Group. He is also a member of ITU-T SG19, and IPv6 Forum Korea. He has also made contributions to International Standard Organizations such as IETF, IRTF, and IEEE 802, and thus published IETF RFC 5181, RFC 5270, and IEEE 802.21 standards. He has served as the guest editor of Wiley WCMC (Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing), the associate editor of JIPS (Journal of Information Processing Systems), PC chairs and members for various prestige international conferences. He is the member of IEEE, IEICE, KIPSand KICS.
Professor Doo-Soon Park received the MS degree in computer science from the Chungnam National University in 1983 and the Ph.D in computer science from Korea University in 1988. Currently, he is a Professor in the Department of Computer Software Engineering at Soonchunhyang University, South Korea. He is a president of Korea Information Technology Association (KITA). He was an editor in chiefs of JIPS (Journal of Information Processing Systems) at KIPS (Korea Information Processing Society) and a Director of Culture Technology at Soonchunhyang University. He was a dean of the Engineering College at Soonchunhyang University and was the director of the u-Healthcare Research Center at Soonchunhyang University in 2002 and 2006, respectively. He had worked on the editorial board of the journal of the Korea Multimedia Society in 2005. He has served on the honorary chair of the international Conference on Algorithms and Architectures for parallel Processing (ICA3PP) and the international conference on computer science and its applications (CSA) and the international conference on high performance computing and communications (HPCC), and the international conference on information security and assurance (ISA). He has received the outstanding leadership in FTRA World Convergence Conference(WCC 2010), ITCS 2010 International Conference, and ICA3PP 2010 International Conference. He was a visiting professor at the University of Colorado from 2004 to 2005. His research interests include parallel processing, data mining, and multimedia information processing. He is the member of the IEEE, ACM, KMS, and KIPS. Professor Weijia Jia is currently a full Professor in the Department of Computer Science and the Director of Future Networking Center, ShenZhen Research Institute of City University of Hong Kong (CityU). He received BSc and MSc from Center South University , China in 1982 and 1984 and Master of Applied Sci. and PhD from Polytechnic Facultyof Mons, Belgium in 1992 and 1993 respectively, all in Computer Science. He joined German National Research Center for Information Science (GMD) in Bonn (St. Augustine) from 1993 to 1995 as a research fellow. In 1995, he joined Department of Computer Science, CityU as an assistant professor. Prof. Jia's research interests include next generation wireless communication, protocols and heterogeneous networks; distributed systems, multicast and anycast QoS routing protocols. In these fields, he has a number of publications in the prestige international journals (IEEE Transactions, e.g., ToN, TPDS, TC, TMC etc.), books/chapters and refereed international conference proceedings (e.g. ACM CCS, WiSec, MobiHoc, SenSys, IEEE ICDCS, INFOCOM etc.).
