Famous Wexfordians

Much has been written and reported on the broad canvas of the history of County Wexford over the centuries. Its battles, insurrections, maritime adventurers, political leaders and Princes of the Church have all left an indelible mark on this county located on the South-East corner of Ireland. Also included in this work are those illustrious visitors to the county, many of whom remained, adding their talents to all aspects of urban and rural activities. Liam Gaul is the current president of Wexford Historical Society and has contributed many articles to historical journals on the culture, traditions and people of County Wexford. He received a Civic Award in 1992 from the Mayor and Corporation of Wexford for his contribution to Culture and Education in his town. He holds a Master of Arts (University of Limerick) and a Diploma In Local History (National University of Ireland, Maynooth).
