The book discusses essential topics in industrial and applied mathematics such as image processing with a special focus on medical imaging, biometrics and tomography. Applications of mathematical concepts to areas like national security, homeland security and law enforcement, enterprise and e-government services, personal information and business transactions, and brain-like computers are also highlighted.
These contributions - all prepared by respected academicians, scientists and researchers from across the globe - are based on papers presented at the international conference organized on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of the Indian Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ISIAM) held from 29 to 31 January 2016 at Sharda University, Greater Noida, India. The book will help young scientists and engineers grasp systematic developments in those areas of mathematics that are essential to properly understand challenging contemporary problems.
Auteur
PAMMY MANCHANDA is a senior professor of Mathematics at the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, India. She has published 44 research papers in several international journals of repute, edited 2 proceedings volumes for international conferences of the Indian Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ISIAM) and co-authored 3 books. She has attended, delivered talks and chaired sessions at reputed academic conferences and workshops across the world, including ICIAM (19992015) and the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) since 2002. She is the managing editor of the Indian Journal of Industrial and Applied Mathematics and a member of the editorial board of the Springer book series Industrial and Applied Mathematics. RENÉ LOZI is a professor at the University of Nice, Dieudonné Center of Mathematics, France. In 1991, he became a full professor at the University of Nice and the Institute for Teacher Trainees (IUFM), France. Earlier, he served as the director of this institute (20012006) and as the vice-chairman of the French Board of Directors of the IUFM (20042006). He received his French State Thesis (on chaotic dynamical systems) under the supervision of Prof. René Thom (a Fields Medalist) in 1983. He currently serves on the editorial board of several international journals of repute. In 1977, he discovered a particular mapping of the plane having a strange attractor (now classically known as Lozi map). Today, his research areas include complexity and emergence theory, dynamical systems, bifurcation, control of chaos, cryptography-based chaos, and recently memristor (a physical device for neuro-computing).
ABUL HASAN SIDDIQI is a professor emeritus at the School of Basic Sciences and Research at Sharda University, Greater Noida, India. He is also the elected president of the Indian Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ISIAM). He has jointly published more than 100 research papers and 5 books with his research collaborators, 5 and edited the proceedings of 9 international conferences. He is founder secretary of the Indian Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ISIAM), which celebrated its Silver Jubilee in January 2016. He is editor-in-chief of the Indian Journal of Industrial and Applied Mathematics, published by ISIAM and Industrial and Applied Mathematics, a book series with Springer.
