A Penny for Your Thoughts

One thing, One thought at a time, Is better than Everything All the time. In a debut collection of poetry, Ellison Kudzayi Madenyika offers lyrical wisdom that touches on the life experiences of the poor and uneducated. With the intent of strengthening the less fortunate and offering hope for both the present and an uncertain future, Madenyika reflects on a variety of topics and themes that encourage others to avoid antagonizing greedy, power-hungry, and ambitious souls as well as disagreements fueled by lies and instead to embrace gratitude, forget pain, and forgive. Throughout his collection, Madenyika reminds us that in being nobody, we become somebody, and that life, no matter how hard, is a gift that can be positively transformed simply by focusing on becoming better every day. A Penny for Your Thoughts is a volume of short poems that share insight into the lives of the less fortunate from the perspective of a Zimbabwian native.

Auteur

ELLISON KUDZAYI MADENYIKA was born in Morgenster Mission Hospital. Masvingo, Zimbabwe on the 9th May 1945. He attended the Salvation Army School before moving to Chitsere Primary School, Mbare. In 1960 he went to the A.P. Knottenbelt High School, Gweru and completed the Cambridge School Certificate in 1963. He joined the Ministry of Local Government as a clerk in 1964 and later moved to the Department of Social Welfare in 1977 as a qualified Social Worker with a B.A.Social Science Degree. He trained with the University of South Africa from 1974-1976 by distance education. From 1969-1989, Mr Madenyika was actively involved in the socio-political transformation of Zimbabwe. In 1990 he became the Regional Coordinator of the Zimbabwe -EU Microproject (Partnership) Development Programme in Masvingo province, a post he held until August 2002 when he left the country. He is now living in the UK where he is serving as a Youth Justice Social Worker.
