Hitch , president of Resources for the Future in Washington, D.C., was formerly president of the University of California, and served as Assistant Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) from 1961-1965. He was also chairman of the General Advisory Committee of the Energy Research and Development Administration and vice president of the. American Economic Association, A fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and of the Econometric Society, he has also been awarded numerous honorary degrees. He has published several books on various aspects of economics, including Modeling Energy-Economy Interactions: Five Approaches (Resources for the Future, 1977).
