Dr. Thaddeus L. Kostrubala (1930 Chicago - 2020 Santa Fe), an anthropologist, doctor and psychiatrist, is the pioneer in the field of running therapy and founder of the related therapy approach known as Paleoanalysis. In particular, he is known for his work The Joy of Running (1976), which became a bestseller and a classic in the US running and international running therapy movement. It has been translated into multiple languages, and was reissued and expanded by the author in 2013. This text by running therapist Wolfgang W. Schüler, M.A., Germany, traces the visionary Dr. Kostrubala's running therapy path which sometimes resembles a Greek tragedy from its beginning. It is being published on the occasion of Dr. Kostrubala's 90th birthday in September 2020, in English, Spanish, French and German, in the form of this book with a lot of photos.
The book got best reviews. Here three of them: "The book is many things in one: [...] a moving and at the same time moving, because fateful biography of the jubilarian [...] exciting reportage on the development of therapeutic running in the USA [...] 'the' review of Kostrubala's classic 'The Joy of Running' [...] in parts a beautiful illustrated book including a bibliography on therapeutic running with Dr. Kostrubala as a creative and running pioneer [...] (probably) the first four-language (!) running book in the world." "Congratulations [...] for this great idea to honor the life's work of this man in such an impressive and unusual way." (Prof. Dr. Detlef Kuhlmann, German print running journal: Spiridon, 2020). "Unique documentation" [...] "exciting reading." (Dr. Arwed Bonnemann, German online running journal: laufreport.de, 2020) "A wonderful summary" (Mark Lane-Holbert, USA, runninganthropologist.com, 21.03.2021)
