TONGUE THRUSTING ORAL HABIT - A REVIEW

Oral habit can interfere with growth and normal development of the jaws, favoring the onset of the malocclusion. Various oral habits that affects the child's normal growth and well being are mouth breathing, tongue thrusting, lip biting, bruxism, etc. Among these, Tongue thrusting is one of the commonly seen habit. Tongue thrusting is a condition in which the tongue is observed thrusting between, and the tooth do not close in centric during deglutition. Such habit can bring about destructive effect on occlusion if not treated in the correct time. As a Pediatric Dentist, it is my ethical responsibility to throw light on this neglected habit. This book includes a complete and comprehensive understanding, its various manifestation and successful treatment modalities of the Tongue Thrusting Habit.
