The Unicorn that Said No

Unique, funny and refreshing, this is a delightful, witty picture book about a contrary unicorn - the U-NO-corn. Adults and children alike will relate to its not-so-perfect personality and its refusal to accept a cotton-candy world.

In the prettiest parts of the Forest of Hearts, a cute little unicorn was born. Its mane was puffy, its fur SUPER fluffy... But as adorable as it looked, it didn't behave like the other unicorns in its herd. 'NO' was its favourite word! No matter how many sweet lucky clovers or soft squishy cuddles that the other unicorns offered, the answer was always 'NO'. And so this unicorn became known as the uNOcorn.It's no surprise that one day our contrary unicorn decides to break free of its cotton-candy world and have an adventure of its own. Along the way, the uNOcorn meets a raccoon who never listens ('Huh?'), a dog who doesn't care ('So what?') and a rude princess (whose favourite word is 'YES!'). What a wonderful team they make, because being stubborn is much more fun together!

Auteur

Marc-Uwe Kling is a songwriter, political stand-up comedian and author living in Berlin. He studied philosophy and theatre science at the Freie Universität Berlin and since 2003 has been a guest at various reading events and poetry slams all over Germany. He is a two-time German Poetry Slam Champion.

Astrid Henn was born in Aachen. After her studies in Visual Communication, she worked as art director for publicists in Hamburg as well as being a freelance illustrator and designer.

Everyone in the forest is overwhelmed with joy when another cute little unicorn sees the light of day. But this unicorn isn't quite like the others. As adorable as it might seem on the outside, it doesn't behave like the fairy tale creature it's supposed to be. "NO" is its favourite word - and no matter how many sweet four-leaved clovers, or how many cuddles, the other unicorns offer it, the answer is always a stroppy "NO!".
