Welcome to Wine pairs the expertise of a certified wine specialist with the accessibility of a blog to create an easy-to-understand, all-you-need-to-know introductory guide to wine. Author Madelyne Meyer takes her notes from years of wine education, often more illustrations than text, and explains them to wine novices and wine lovers alike. Her detailed illustrations make the text extremely accessible, with images to reinforce the information she provides on nearly every spread. The book is organized into four sections: the basics (from wine glasses and serving temperature to food and wine pairings and coping with hangovers), taste (from "the eye" and "the nose" to how to form an overall impression), wine growing (with a dozen full-page maps), and wine making (where Meyer's superb hand-drawn infographic-style illustrations illuminate exactly how red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines are made). With over two hundred color illustrations, Meyer teaches all wine drinkers, regardless of their prior knowledge, more about one of humankind's oldest and most-appreciated beverages.
