There have been concerns about the integrity of thousands of wells drilled worldwide for different purposes ranging from oil and gas to geological carbon sequestration. This is the first book to integrate different aspects of wellbore integrity into a single volume. It looks at the energy sector's green wave movement by expanding an important topic for practitioners, regulators, and students. It is an area where petroleum and subsurface engineers will increasingly need to be involved in the future to address growing expectations regarding environmental impacts and sustainability. Coverage also includes recent developments in regulations and R&D with indications on emerging areas.Wellbore Integrity: From Theory to Practice will be a valuable resource for practicing engineers and students working on problems related to subsurface energy, subsurface disposals, and environmental impacts of oil and gas wells. In parallel, it will be a valuable reference for engineers and scientists interested in repurposing existing wells for carbon sequestration or geothermal purposes.
First single-volume guide on wellbore integrity Looks at recent industry developments and regulations Coverage ranges from oil and gas to geological carbon sequestration
Auteur
Arash Dahi Taleghani, Ph.D., is a professor of petroleum engineering at Penn State. Before joining Penn State, he was an associate professor of petroleum engineering at Louisiana State University while serving as an independent consultant in the oil and gas industry. He earned an M.S. in civil engineering from the Sharif University of Technology and his Ph.D. in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He has numerous publications and patents in the field of drilling and completions. In 2014, he received the Distinguished Achievement Award for Petroleum Engineering Faculty from the Society of Petroleum Engineering (SPE). He also received the SPE Eastern North America Regional Completions Optimization and Technology Award in 2017. He is currently researching reservoir geomechanics, hydraulic fracturing, wellbore integrity, and drill bit mechanics. Livio Santos, Ph.D., is a Research Associate at Penn State. He received his Ph.D. from the same university in 2020. He has a track record for research in wellbore integrity, drilling engineering, and petroleum data analytics.
