The idea for this edited book came about due to the increased discussion and focus on leadership within the educational technology field and particularly in the Association for Educational Communications and Technology organization. There is a diverse amount of individuals in leadership in the field that contributed their lessons learned. This book focuses on sharing the lessons learned by leaders in the field on how they became a leader and what leadership means. The primary contributions address three central questions.
What is your story about how you became a leader? What lessons have you learned about being an effective leader? What advice would you give others to become a leader?
In addition, this book spotlights the impact that past leaders have had on current leaders and upon the field of educational technology.

Auteur
Christopher Thomas Miller is a Professor of Education and has served as the Dean of the College of Education and as chair of the Department of Foundational and Graduate Studies in Education at Morehead State University. He is the editor of a book on games in education and more than 50 academic publications and presentations. He was a 2000 Cochran Intern for the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) and has served as the President of the Kentucky Association of Teacher Educators, President for the Division of Distance Learning President of the Multimedia Production Division in AECT as well as the President of the AECT Foundation. Chris is a sci-fi geek with love for Star Trek, Star Wars, Babylon 5, and Stargate. He has been a longtime collector of comics and will stop at most any comic store when traveling.
Anthony A. Piña is Associate Provost for Instruction and Online Learning and Distinguished Lecturer at Sullivan University in Louisville, Kentucky. He is the author/editor of five books on online/distance education and more than 70 academic publications. He has taught at the K-12, community college and university levels and has been a consultant to Fortune 500 corporations, small businesses, local government agencies, non-profit organizations, the U.S. Department of Defense and numerous educational institutions. Tony served two terms as President of the Community College Association for Instruction and Technology and two terms at President of the Division of Distance Learning of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT). He served on the AECT Board of Directors and on the boards of directors of public charter schools in Arizona and California. Tony is also an accreditation peer reviewer for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and a peer reviewer for the American Council on Education (ACE).
