Auteur
Dr. Daisy Shu is a Scientia Senior Lecturer in the School of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney. The Shu lab explores the role of mitochondrial and metabolic dysfunction in retinal eye diseases including age-related macular degeneration and proliferative vitreoretinopathy. She is focused on the molecular mechanisms of epithelial- and endothelial-mesenchymal transition in retinal disease. She completed her PhD at the University of Sydney, Australia under the mentorship of Professor Frank Lovicu investigating the pathogenesis of fibrotic cataract. Her postdoctoral training was completed in the laboratories of Dr. Magali Saint-Geniez and Dr. Leo Kim at Schepens Eye Research Institute of Mass Eye and Ear in the Department of Ophthalmology of Harvard Medical School focused on exploring the cellular and molecular mechanisms underpinning retinal wound healing and fibrosis, with a particular focus on epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT).
Dr. Shu's research has been recognized by several awards and grants, including the prestigious and competitive Fight for Sight and BrightFocus Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowships and the Young Scientist Leadership Award of the American Society for Investigative Pathology (ASIP). Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Progress in Retina and Eye Research, Scientific Reports and Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. She has presented her work at international conferences including the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), International Society for Eye Research (ISER), American Academy of Optometry and Experimental Biology. Dr. Shu serves many leadership roles on several scientific research committees including Vice-President of ISER, ARVO Board of Trustees and the ASIP Career Development Committee.
Dr Rohan Bir Singh (MD) is a Fellow at the Laboratory of Corneal Immunology, Transplantation and Regeneration at the Schepens Eye Research Institute of Massachusetts Eye and Ear, Harvard Medical School. He graduated from the Government Medical College & Hospital, Panjab University, India. His research interests include immunopathogenesis of dry eye disease, immunology of corneal graft rejection, epidemiology of corneal disorders in the United States and ocular graft-versus-host disease. He is a PhD candidate at the Leiden University Medical Center (The Netherlands) with concentration in corneal immunology. Dr. Singh is also a visiting lecturer in the Division of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, the University of Adelaide, Australia. He has published more than 45 peer reviewed publications and chapters.
Dr Parul Ichhpujani (MS, MBA (HA)) is currently a Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology, Government Medical College and Hospital, Chandigarh, India.
