Charles Oluwaseun Adetunji is a full professor and faculty member at the Microbiology Department, Faculty of Science, Edo State University Uzairue (EDSU), Edo State, Nigeria, where he utilizes the application of biological techniques and microbial bioprocesses for the actualization of sustainable development goals and agrarian revolution, through quality teaching, research, and community development. He previously held roles as the Acting Director of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer, the Head of the Department of Microbiology, Sub Dean of the Faculty of Science, immediate Dean of the Faculty of Science and is presently serving as the Chairman of the Grant Committee as well as the Director of Research and Innovation at EDSU. He has won several scientific awards and grants from renowned academic bodies such as the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) India and UK and National Research Fund (TETFUND). He is presently the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Nigerian Bioinformatics and Genomics Network Society. He was recently appointed by the African Union Development Agency-NEPAD Centre of Excellence in Science, Technology, and Innovation (CoE STI) to participate in different countries in Africa as a senior expert and consultant to help in the development of curriculum in Biotechnology, Applied Microbiology, Microbiome and Genome editing.
Segun Fatumo is Professor and Chair of Genomic Diversity at Queen Mary University of London and the head of NCD Genomics at the MRC Uganda. Professor Fatumo's research largely focuses on the genetic impact of non-communicable diseases in Africa population. He specialises in Genomics and other Omics of African Populations. Segun Fatumo received postdoctoral training in genetic epidemiology at the University of Cambridge and Wellcome Sanger Institute and a postdoctoral fellowship in Bioinformatics at the University of Georgia, Athens, USA. Prior to that, He had postgraduate training in applied Bioinformatics at the University of Cologne, Germany and PhD in Computer Science (Bioinformatics specialization) from Covenant University, Nigeria. Segun Fatumo is co-director of the KidneyGenAfrica Research Partnership Programme - A Partnership to Deliver Research and Training Excellence in Genomics of Kidney Disease in Africa. Segun Fatumo is strongly committed to increasing diversity in genomic studies and was recently awarded the prestigious MRC Impact prize for advocating for the inclusion of Africa in genomic research and championing genetic risk prediction of complex diseases in Africa populations.
Kingsley Nnanna Ukwaja is a Public Health Expert, Epidemiologist, and a Consultant in General Medicine & Respiratory Medicine with Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. He is also a Senior Lecturer with the Colleges of Medicine of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ikwo and David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences, Uburu, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. He has excellent experience in leading operational researches on communicable & non-communicable disease epidemiology. A highly motivated professional with over 17 years' bottom-up experience and career development from facility, to sub-national, national, and international level in clinical care, program design and implementation, technical support, and monitoring & evaluation; with emphasis on TB, TB/HIV, DR-TB, Leprosy & Buruli ulcer. His other key expertise includes health data science, health informatics, research synthesis, economic evaluation, policy development, monitoring and evaluation, supportive supervision, translational epidemiology, and implementation science as well as creating dynamic modeling analyses and frameworks that translate epidemiological data into effective decisions.
