This account of Georgia's oldest "lost" towns spans the years following the first settlement on the Colony's coast to the advent of the railroad in the western part of the state. It contains valuable historical data on the events leading to the establishment and eventual decline of communities which in their day were important strongholds ia a region which still belonged for the most part to one of several Indian nations.
