This volume covers one of the most thrilling two-year periods in twentieth-century physics, as matrix mechanics- developed chiefly by W. Heisenberg, M. Born, and P. Jordan- and wave mechanics- developed by E. Schrödinger- supplanted the earlier quantum theory.
