For his first novel "Hundert Tage" (One Hundred Days), which was published in Germany in 2008, Bärfuss was awarded the Mara-Cassens Prize, the Schiller Prize and the Erich-Maria-Remarque-Friedenspreis Prize. He was also nominated for the German and Swiss Book Prize. Tess Lewis has translated works by Peter Handke, Alois Hotschnig, Julya Rabinowich, Pascal Bruckner, and Jean-Luc Benoziglio among others. She has been awarded a PEN Translation Fund grant and an NEA Translation Fellowship. She is an Advisory Editor for The Hudson Review and writes essays on European Literature for various literary journals
