Slated to comprise ten volumes, the Dictionary of Old High German has been published in installments by the Saxon Academy of Sciences and Humanities since 1952, and has been edited by Hans Ulrich Schmid since Installment V/15. Volume VIII (containing terms beginning with s) is the section richest in material, and is therefore appearing in two parts.
